What are your plans for the weekend? I didn’t get much done this week because I had a hard time sleeping, so I’ll be catching up on some light work stuff. But I have a video chat scheduled with a friend I haven’t chatted with in a long time, so that’ll be fun. And I started reading for fun again and am enjoying the book I picked up from my to read pile.

Here’s some favorite links from the past week:

How to search the National Archives for still photos.

The End of Secrets: Family History in the Age of Bio Ethics.

Where’s Waldo in the age of social distancing.

Genetic genealogy cracks open a cold case from 1963.

The National Genealogical Society conference will be virtual this year and starting on May 20. Will you be joining in?

Early passports (1770s-early 1800s) are a record to look out for.

How to capture an oral history.

In 1918, there was an anti-mask league in San Francisco.

Lost Patriots in the papers of Lt. Col. John F. Grimké.

An update on Cinderblock.

Love special collections like this. Would you try any of these?

This week, I’m grateful for:

Teaching my mom how to use Zoom

Sunny days every day

A fully stocked kitchen once again

Finishing a book. I’m usually a very avid reader, but my focus has been off during the quarantine. This was a fun book and I recommend it if you like suspenseful novels!
